Laminated stock and matching handguard with a flat steel buttplate and marked with a small eagle/swastika in the grip area and matching serial number. Stamped rear barrel band, machined front band, floor plate and trigger guard and ramped front and tangent rear sights with the rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. The rear of the scope is marked "VOIGLANDER/BRAUNSCHWEIG. The left side of the barrel below the rear sight is marked "S/42K" (partially covered by the stock).
The left rear of the barrel is marked a partial Waffenamt proof, the serial number and the "SS/skull and cross bones" Death Head stamp. The top of the receiver is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER A.-G./OBERNDORF A/N./1918" with the left side marked with a "crown/N" proof, Imperial eagle and the serial number and the right side marked with a faint crown, script letter proof and two crown/E proofs. This is a very nice example of a German Gew 98 rifle with a Voiglander 3x scope mounted on a side rail mounting system.
